Returning to school after the summer can be difficult no matter what. Right after a year spent entirely at home, attending school virtually, however? That's a nightmare for so many kids, but especially those who have always struggled to sit still at the traditional desk.
Flexible seating affords the students the opportunity to sit comfortably and continue learning in a similar routine as they did last year.
It is unreasonable to expect that a child who is used to virtually attending school sitting on the floor, sitting on the couch, or the bed, is going to be capable of sitting at a desk for eight hours! However, if those choices are readily available to the student who needs to flex, the transition back to school is made all the easier by a clear acceptance of that child, and recognition of their needs.
