Students can choose to build communities and important, life-altering relationships, and the books chosen revolve around this idea of community. The materials selected will be used as part of a choice reading book club. Students will take the themes and experiences of the characters and make text to text, text to self, and text to world connections. These important connections show students, even those from a small town, they can create and foster relationships that can impact their future and the future of those around them.
