I work as a special education teacher in a public school. The students spend some of their school day in the general education classroom and some of the day in the special education room. I work with the general education teachers on writing and implementing lessons that meet all student needs. I get to interact with students who have disabilities as well as those who do not. The students fill my heart with joy each day. I am blessed to be able to watch these student grow through their preteen years. The special education students each have unique individual personalities with educational needs that vary depending on their disability. When lessons are taught in a way that reaches the special education student's learning needs, their faces light up with pride. These students will be our future leaders and I am proud of them during the hard moments and the successful moments.
