I'm a new math coach in an elementary school that has never had a math coach before. I get to work with every teacher and student in our building, and I want to create a library of children's books that incorporate mathematical topics into real-world stories! I'll go into classrooms to read the picture book, then co-teach lessons based on the math in the books. Linking literature to math gives students schema about the math they're learning and helps them see the reason why they're learning those mathematical topics. And it gets kids (and their teachers!) interested and excited about math!
