Carrie Martin is a wonderful community school, made up of wonderful students and supportive, hard working families. The third grade students in my class this year are incredibly excited to learn. They love to read! Those who did not like to read at the beginning of the year are being influenced by the ones who love it. As a result, the excitement for reading has spread and their thirst for more books is growing. We have share time every day at the end of Reader's Workshop, and this is by far their favorite part of the day. They cannot wait to share with each other what they have read and what they are learning about within the wonderful world of books. I have to say that they are even influencing me! I find myself talking to them about books that I'm reading as well. I have one student who won 12 books in a school drawing and she immediately donated all 12 books to our classroom library because she wanted them to be for all of us, and not just her. This is what I love about teaching!
