Sometimes all a student needs is an adaptation: a change in materials, task demand, and/or environment to help them be more successful in the classroom environment. That is what occupational therapy (OT) is all about!
We work with our students to build skills as well as provide materials and supplies that match those skills.
The adapted paper assists students with placement and formation of letters and words, which improves legibility and ease of handwriting. The various types of pencil grips help to gradually transition students' pencil grasps based on their developmental milestones. The adapted scissors are beneficial for students first learning to use scissors or those with decrease hand strength. The chair bands provide an opportunity for movement that is minimally disruptive and provides sensory input that assists with focus and attention to task in the classroom.
