Learning through play is the vehicle that develops so many important skills in young learners. Some of the skills include sharing, problem-solving, social and emotional skills, motor skills, and so on. My students need STEM building materials and critical thinking puzzles to enhance their learning through play. My students need more opportunities to experience simple game playing and puzzles that encourage critical thinking to build their social skills.
The materials requested encourage all of these skills which are key to their development as first graders.
In my classroom, I believe in developing the whole child, academically, but also socially, and emotionally. The materials requested include magnetic building tiles, LEGOs, Lincoln Logs, spinning engineer disks, shape puzzles, charades, microscope, and slides.
Further, these materials will also be used to maximize fun at indoor recess (which is highly needed as a first-year teacher looking for more materials to use). Please consider helping me incorporate purposeful play in my first-grade classroom.
