Last year, all of my classroom's soft surfaces were exchanged for items that could be easily sanitized. Sadly, my rugs had to go and those resilient students made group-time possible by sitting on the laminate flooring in my classroom. With a fresh start this year, I would love to let a new group of First Graders sit in my classroom on a soft surface that helps them explore their personal space. The rug that I choose has a calming color scheme and pre-selected spots, which is so helpful at this age.
