The "Bucket Squad" small group is based on Carol McCloud's book "Have You Filled A Bucket Today?" Students learn that we all carry an invisible bucket filled with our good thoughts and feelings. Even our families, teachers, pets, etc. all carry an invisible bucket! The small group emphasizes social skills, empathy, anti-bullying, and self-esteem.
The first lesson of the small group focuses on students decorating their own buckets making connections between the sand bucket and our invisible buckets. Each week the activities are placed in the bucket allowing students to see their sand bucket fill up and their invisible buckets fill up as well! At the conclusion of the "Bucket Squad" students take their buckets home as a reminder of the lessons we learned together and the importance of being a life long bucket filler!
Parent newsletters are sent home each week to allow parents to be a part of the conversations and activities. All students are invited to participate in this small group program.
