My students will be able to apply what they read to what they are learning in Science. Students will read "The Diary of a Whimpy Kid The Meltdown," which is a high interest book for them. In this story they will venture into learning about a snow fight that uses physics to compete for the win.
Students will apply what they learn to their knowledge of force and motion in Science class to build a catapult with the science kit. This will help them to give them hands-on learning to understand the parts of the catapult and how they work. The students will then be able to design their own catapult and build it on their own. These steps to reinforce what they are learning in the classroom and an opportunity to learn the material in a different manner.
