My goal is to have a classroom that features a variety of characters and backgrounds. I believe that students need to see success in those that look like them, and that they can relate to, in order to also believe that they can be successful - however they define success. Diverse books with diverse topics, characters, plots, and stories, will help my students understand the world around them and will help them understand the goals and aspirations that they have and will set for themselves as learners, readers, scientists, writers, mathematicians, explorers and - most importantly - as people in the community and in the world.

About my class
