I am setting up my classroom as a first-year teacher, and am hoping to gather some important supplies to assist my students in a few different classes! One of the most essential items is our book bins - these bins will be used to store students' personal book selections each week, which they will use during sustained silent reading. This will help organize our classroom and encourage students to take care of their books.
Another classroom item that my students will love is a set of handheld clocks, which students will use to learn to tell time. My students are always eager to know what time it is, and what time other classes will take place throughout the day - these clocks will help them have a physical manipulative to help them learn to read an analog clock.
Finally, I am hoping to get a set of fake coins, to use in math classes to help students learn the value of different coins and money. These will be used in math lessons, as well as in our morning routines, during which we will practice showing the number of the day as represented by coins!
