My students are under a lot of stress and pressure both academically and socially. I know my students would benefit from headphones. They can do interactive activities independently, my English Language Learners will have access to audio for articles, and students can stay focused on their work without distractions. All students have struggled during the Covid-19 pandemic, but my English language learners have taken the biggest hit. If they had access to headphones in class so they could listen and follow along to articles, books, or any other research they are conducting, it would make a huge impact on their learning! Many of these kids are facing challenges both at home and in school. One of those challenges is staying energized and focused. I provide students with snacks on a "no questions asked" basis. In a title one school you never know what circumstances students face at home. I always want them to know they have a place to come to that provides not only an education, but a warm loving environment.
