My project will help my students adjust being back to school from having a year off due to COVID. Printer will allow me to print the icons needed for visual schedules and communication boards for my students. Alternate flexible seating will help my students who struggle to sit for long periods of time. They also have sensory issues when it comes to sitting on hard furniture.
Giving my nonverbal students the opportunity to communicate their feelings, wants, and needs will allow me to provide the support they need to help them adjust to a world of COVID restrictions.
My overall objective is to make my students comfortable and give them a voice. They have already missed so much instruction, routine, and socialization from virtual learning that the adjustment to in-person instruction, while wearing a mask all the time, will be hard for them. I want my students to know that it will all be okay.
