One important focus of Montessori teaching is "practical life." Care of self and care of the environment are two main areas of development, and practical life lessons support these areas. Additionally, these lessons take full advantage of the child’s motivation to learn these skills at a very young age.
Practical life in Montessori is a purposeful activity which develops motor control and coordination, and develops independence, concentration, and a sense of responsibility. It is also a practical way for them to learn important life skills....and have fun along the way!
