These items will help my students learning in the classroom as well as help create a calming space for them to learn. My students are all students with severe disabilities and most are English Language Learners.
I teach three sections of ELA for readers ranging from non-readers to 1st grade equivalent fluency. They have been working on the beginning steps of reading their whole lives and it is crucial for them to have new and interactive ways to learn.
I also teach a section of Civics/ U.S. History. We focus on working on how to be a citizen. This includes reading signs which also ties into our ELA lessons!
Lastly, I teach interpersonal skills. In this class it is important to practice, practice, and practice again. Many of these materials will help with roleplaying as well as emotion reading.
