The use of tablets is a daily activity in my classroom for reading, math, and even science. Tablets allow students to feel the joy of using an electronic device without realizing they are learning through play. It has also allowed students to show their own creativity with certain apps. Unfortunately, COVID created an issue with space. We have had to separate from our normal desk pods to ensuring we remain 3 feet apart from each other while sitting. Currently, our class has a large tablet cart that takes up valuable space that could be used to help my students spread out for center time. Our school also does not have any funds to put towards any new charging ports or charging cables to allow me to place the tablets on my countertop instead of the cart.
With these new charging ports and charging cables, my students would be able to have more floor space in our classroom to spread out for our reading and math centers.
It will also allow me to utilize the part of the wall it has covered for important visuals or anchor charts. I will be able to place them on my countertop and provide more room for my students in the classroom.
