During the last school year, my students had to sit in individual desks six feet apart from one another. Also, because of social distancing requirements, we lost out on the chance to have a classroom rug for class meetings, a class library, and other kindergarten room essentials.
I would love to revitalize my classroom this year so that it is warm, cozy, and inviting and can help foster a love for learning. A classroom rug is essential in kindergarten for class meetings, story time, individual reading space, and much more. Our classroom library will be re-opened for students to access books at their leisure this year. Access to books of all different genres and a space to read helps develop a love of reading that will carry over throughout their school careers.
I also plan to use some materials from this list to display student work throughout our classroom. Research shows that students feel more connected to their classroom when they see themselves in it through displays of work and things they created.
