My second-grade students need to learn basic English as the majority of my students are newcomers. All of my newcomers, need to learn the basics: numbers, letter names, and letter sounds. The goal is: that all of the resources will help me get my students reading, adding, and subtracting by the end of the school year. The Bingo games will be used to work with them in small groups reviewing letter sounds, letter names, homophones, rhyming, and basic math skills like adding and subtracting. The library will be placed in front of the room and students can come and sit on a mat or a floor chair. The bouncy balls will be used to support students who are having trouble completing a task, the bouncy balls are used to keep them concentrated. Whiteboards will be used to support sentence writing and spelling. The storage sacks are needed in my classroom because their desks are really small and their textbooks are getting mistreated. We are starting the unit on learning the 50 States and their capitals. The globe will be a fantastic way to study this unit. Teaching for the first time is difficult and not having all the resources at my disposal makes my job even harder. Many resources are needed to help my students in this high need school I teach at.
