This year, I will teach six classes of Literacy through Film & Literature. In today's society, students are surrounded by a surplus of media. This class will teach them how to filter through content, finesse their familiarity with technology , and hone their storytelling capabilities. This class will teach students the importance of media literacy, the fundamentals of video production, and the art of storytelling. These tools used in this class will help students film and edit projects such as podcasts, news features, broadcast journalism, PSAs, stop motion, documentaries, script writing as well as short films. Through project based learning, students will discover a powerful platform to craft stories around, hopefully sparking an interest in career opportunities in the video production in the future.
