Having the see-through masks will continue to keep my students safe while allowing me to see the positioning of their tongues, teeth and lips when producing targeted speech sounds. Since the pandemic, it has been extremely challenging to properly support my students who have articulation delays due to having to cover their mouths. This is the majority of my speech-language caseload. Having the see-through masks will offer the visual support that I need to give them sufficient feedback. When I wear see-through masks, students can see the positioning of my mouth. However, it has been difficult for me to know if they are appropriately imitating my oral motor movements without being able to see their mouths.
