We live in a time of extraordinary change. New knowledge and tools for doing and communicating in math continue to evolve. Please help my students be able to understand and be able to use mathematics in everyday life and in the workplace in their future. My students are fifth grades students from a small coastal town. They attend a school that is only 4th and 5th grade students. We have 400 students in the 5th grade alone! They are students who are eager to learn about the world around them! In this changing world, my students need to be able to understand and do mathematics so that they will have enhanced opportunities and options for shaping their future. All students are not created the same. Each student has their own way of learning mathematics. Some ideas in math are not concrete to all of my students. They need to be able to touch and feel ideas in math for themselves.
