Think back to your years as a young middle schooler. You likely remember teachers demanding you to sit stationary in a desk for upwards of 6 hours per day. I strive to break that barrier in learning and give my students different options to fit their learning styles. Flexible seating allows students to take charge of their learning and make the choices that work best for them. Currently my students ONLY have the option of sitting in a standard desk. Adding in flexible seating will allow my students to thrive in an environment that truly caters to their differentiated needs. Making sure students are comfortable is an essential component in motivating them. I have noticed amazing differences in my students when they are given a choice. They almost always make good choices about where they sit, are more engaged, and get more work completed than when they are just sitting at their desk.
I have seen how choice can positively affect my students work and demeanor and hope that the additional options will help us grow as a classroom community and help each individual student reach their highest academic potential!
