Over the winter, students will read novels-in-verse during literature circles, or in-class book groups. Students will be able to choose which novel to focus on for their literature circle. This gives students agency over their learning and help students them build leadership and communication skills.
To help keep students engaged in their literature circles, I've chosen high-interest novels in verse that speak to students of different interests and reading levels.
In addition to building a passion for reading, these novels will help students work on important literacy skills, which they need as they transition toward higher-level texts and concepts in upper middle school.
