For many students, counseling sessions are the only chance they have at learning appropriate coping skills. These sessions teach them how to cope with social-emotional issues and help keep them in the classroom. My students are some of the most resilient children I've ever met and I want to be able to give them the tools they need to cope with any traumas they may have experienced.
My students enjoy social stories. Many times during group or individual sessions, I will refer to a book in order to help the students make a connection with our activity or discussion. There is a wide range of books that will only enhance our discussions and help teach my students those skills they need. However, I'm limited in the number of books I can purchase for them. I would love to provide the appropriate books for our lessons to help my students really grasp the concept of our lesson. I can even use these books to serve as a "reset" for my students struggling during class time.
