In my classroom, I aim to help my students see themselves in all that we do. This requires books that depict students that look like them, crayons that match their skin tone, supplies for each student to use as their own, and projects that display information in an engaging manner. I genuinely want my students to be successful in their learning opportunity, be proud of who they are, and know that they matter. I believe these supplies can help me do so. Unfortunately, my reading corner does not currently represent a variety of diverse individuals in regard to skin color, relatable experiences, or language. I would love to revamp the reading corner to somewhere that students feel comfortable as they see themselves in the stories they read. Having an accessible printer and laminator will help create more engaging learning experiences through what is displayed around the classroom, what students have in front of them, and what students can access independently. With the last year being so technology focused, I am hoping to incorporate more pencil to paper activities in the classroom to help students truly develop that skill that was sadly missed during our virtual world. The printer, laminator, and white boards will all help to meet this goal and help students develop their skill sets.
