Many of the students in our program struggle with reading, and do not enjoy it. By earning and selecting books they are interested in, and getting to keep them forever, we can help build literacy AND a love of reading!
A good book offers children an opportunity to experience a new adventure, a new perspective, and opens a whole new world of exciting experiences.
We feel earning books to read, vs cheap trinkets from the Dollar Store, is very relevant to supporting our literacy programs. What a great gift a good book is, it shapes who we are and provides memories that can be revisited over and over.
