These materials will help students learn through play. They will also help students learn to share, work together, and solve problems using hands on materials. Using toys not only make learning fun, but they teach students social emotional skills like sharing and problem solving (SS.K.11). Students will use toys such as the magnetic design center, magnet lab kit, and engineering kit to explore science and engineering and ways to make things go. Toys such as the jumbo matching bear game will help students learn number recognition, sorting by color, and turn taking. Students will be engaged with the classic story book collection as they listen to classic stories where they interact and answer questions. The alphabet cards and manipulative s will assist my students in learning letters hands on in a fun and engaging way. The smelly markers will encourage students to use their most powerful sense, which is smell. They also help students make a connection between smell and color. Students will demonstrate learning to learn skills and social emotional skills when playing together. They will learn basic back and forth turn taking, sharing, etc. while having fun! The students will work collaboratively to figure things out and solve social problems, as well as solutions to how things work.
