The materials listed will create a safe area for children ages 4-7 to decompress and deescalate by using tactile and visual modalities. This will promote healthy calming techniques and increase learning. Sensory areas are important for children who can not cope as their age appropriate peers. The room will be used as a positive experience and take away the stigma of timeouts.
The materials listed are approved appropriate for children who need to learn how to calm down or decompress when they are upset. All the materials will give positive opportunities for learning a different way to express frustration or anger.
