Students with disabilities often need an area to get away from the sensory overload that can often be within the classroom. The furniture within my project will be used to create a calming area within my classroom for students to escape too when needed. In this area, students can relax, read, complete and work in a quiet/calm space.
This type of flexible seating will allow for my students to self-regulate their emotions and self-advocate for their needs. The calming area the flexible seating will be apart of will provide the students with a safe and comfortable place to learn on a daily basis.
