By having this unbelievable opportunity to acquire a Cricut Maker, tools, and supplies, my Leadership students, Student Government, and Clubs/Organizations will be able to design and create meaningful products that will ultimately enhance their monthly advocacy awareness projects and showcases as well as build school spirit among the entire student body, faculty/staff, and community. School spirit is becoming increasingly important as it brings a positive learning environment for all, especially during these difficult times; it is widely known that when students feel a sense of pride for their school, they perform better academically, have a better sense of school belonging, and are more engaged in social and civic matters. Some projects that my students are interested in creating include stickers to promote awareness on advocacy issues that teens currently face such as mental health, suicide prevention, and vaping/tobacco awareness and prevention. Additionally, they will be creating t-shirts, hats, banners, decorations, and tote bags to promote and build overall school spirit, teamwork, and pride. Throughout their learning processes, students will gain time management, organization, design, technical, critical thinking, problem solving, marketing, and communication skills.
