The use of the base ten blocks is almost a daily necessity in my classroom, especially in math. Before COVID we had a standard class kit but we divided it up and sent half of what each student need while remote learning. This allowed students to physically manipulate a few of the concrete pieces. Now that we have returned to in person instruction we no longer have these kits. We are currently using paper cut outs but they do pose some problems. They are very thin and students ten to loose them.

With the base to hands-on teaching kit it will be easy to demonstrate and reinforce place value concepts with our hands-on teaching kit. Simply give each student a pack of base 10 manipulatives to review concepts in small or large group or encourage children to use the manipulative to practice place value skills on their own.
