Cross Country and Track and Field are easily accessible sports to my community. Students need little to no experience to compete on the Cross Country and Track and Field teams. While they bring many skills to the team - their competitiveness, love for outdoors, dedication, good sportsmanship, and athleticism they still need some equipment in order to safely train in during the fall and spring. This is the first year we are offering our boy's track and cross country teams an off-season training program. Unfortunately, in order to be competitive with the two other high schools within our district, we need new, safer equipment. Most of the equipment that we need to adequately train our athletes, I have purchased out of my own pocket. Our Plyometric boxes that we use daily are old, made out of rusty metal and very difficult (heavy) for my athletes to move. They are also very dangerous to jump on and could cause injury. With a softer and safer Plyo box, it would help increase our participation in off-season track, as well as increase our cross country numbers. Safety, especially in training, is our number one priority and with this outdated equipment, I feel as if I am not giving all of my athletes the best opportunity to be successful!
