This rug will be used for our morning meetings as a place for our class to come together and feel like a community. It is so important to have a gathering spot within a classroom in order to create a safe space and a space for open conversation. In Kindergarten, a rug or a carpet is the “meeting spot” for the entire classroom. It is a spot where read aloud books come to life, conversations about community and kindness are held, games are played and relationships with peers and teachers are formed. Having a rug within a classroom is a vital piece of furniture that makes a huge difference in the educational life of a kindergarten student.
