The goal is to have enough books for the entire English Department to read as a supplement each day to spark dialogue and to investigate themes among students. Students will be able to read and witness real-life experiences, the drive, and the determination about a young man who had to overcome many adversities to become successful. Although a young man's dream of becoming an NFL player is shattered, all hope is not lost.
Students will evaluate how an author’s specific word choices, syntax, tone, and voice shape the intended meaning of the text, and students will extend general vocabulary. More importantly, students will analyze and synthesize information in order to solve problems, answer questions, and generate new knowledge.
