A lot of my students don't see themselves in the books we read in the classroom, and because of this, they disengage. With these books, I can give them a mirror and a guide to help them explore all the worlds and find themselves and their love for reading in between the covers of these books. Young people who read are more likely to learn and contribute to their community and with these books they can learn how to help shape the world in a way that we can all benefit from and a way that reflects who they are and answers the question: why is reading important?
