These books will be used in a daily reading circle with follow up activities focusing on building empathy, making real world connections, and developing appropriate social skills. These books were researched and specially chosen to bring current events including racial injustice and representation into our classroom daily. I wanted materials that would represented my students that they would feel motivated and interested in reading. Most of my students are significantly behind academically, so having extra time to practice literacy is so important. Each book requested will help improve the social emotional functioning of my students.
