As an Academic Reading and English Language Development teacher at Little Rock's historic Horace Mann Middle School, I serve a predominantly African American and Latino student population facing significant economic challenges and academic underachievement. Horace Mann, a former all-Black school predating the 1957 Little Rock Central High School integration, now requires intensive interventions to support these students in achieving grade-level proficiency. My classroom prioritizes active participation and decoding foundational literacy skills to bolster success across all academic subjects. To effectively address their needs, my students require access to targeted intervention materials and resources that foster engagement and provide critical learner support. Your assistance in enhancing our learning environment is essential in cultivating student success.
