These books will allow students to dig deep into literature and practice strategies that we've been learning in class about character studies, story elements, and structure not to mention inferencing and other skills. A class set gives the opportunity for students to annotate text through sticky notes as well as reading together in small groups. As an African American class (100%), it will allow us to study an author who will inspire them to hopefully take their writing of narratives to another level. We need class sets of books.
