These varied books that celebrate diversity, customs, holidays, and empathy will be such wonderful additions to my classroom. Our school district is committed to social-emotional/diverse/equity lessons in the classroom. Because of our diverse population, there continues to be more need for quality literature to support my lessons. The books will enable me to build community in my classroom and to celebrate diversity and all the ways each of us is unique. Building confidence and a growth mindset are all part of my mission in preparing my fifth graders to meet the challenges of middle school next year and beyond.
