With the availability of a color printer, students' projects can come to life. They won't have to stress about the cost of ink or where they can go to get their work printed. A special project called the book jacket challenge that we do each year allows students in English class to design a thematic book cover for a collection of short stories we study. Every year when students present their project, there are students who say " I ran out of ink, so I don't want to share mine" or "Mine isn't as nice as his because we don't have a printer at home." A classroom printer would eliminate those moments and allow students to take pride in their accomplishments.
