Covid 19 has had a great impact on children socially, emotionally and academically. Children have not been able to interact with their freinds which is an important skill needed for life. Students can learn about cooperation, trust, loyalty and support through good peer interaction. The lost of immediate contact with their peers has greatly affected their social and communication skills.
I am requesting materials to help with peer interaction, positive reinforcement and indoor recess. Students will need the opportunity to move and engage in meaningful conversations with one another. Many of the items I am requesting will allow students to move, discuss, build their social skills, math skills, and think critically. These activities would provide this opportunity for my students to get along with each other while enjoying indoor recess. My goal is to make indoor recess/free time a time for students to play games and have positive social interactions with each other.
Positive reinforcement and peer socialization is critical to building communication skills and thinking critically. The math/science focused items for indoor recess align with the curriculum and allow students to strengthen their mathematics skills while playing and learning!
