College and career readiness is not limited to a specific time of the school year. It is an ongoing theme that should be implanted into the minds of students as they enter the school building each day! The materials that I am requesting are just a small component of enhancing and bringing attention to the college and career component of our school counseling program. The pennants will be situated on our largest bulletin board in the building for not only our students, but our guests as well. On a daily basis, students will be provided with visuals of college paraphernalia that may otherwise be unfamiliar. Throughout the school, we will also incorporate the displayed colleges/universities into our morning spotlight (via intercom), counselor's corner newspaper, and student - centered projects. Students will be asked to research the colleges (provide the location, determine whether their future career majors are offered at the universities, admission requirements, virtual tours, etc.). The wristbands will be used in conjunction with our projects to provide daily motivation.
Our ultimate vision is to spark meaningful conversation and dialogue, all while promoting college and career readiness!
