Having these materials in my classroom with give me the ability to reach all struggling readers and learners in my classroom. Too often struggling readers and students with learning disabilities do not have access to the right types of books. Explicit structured literacy intervention, paired with the decodable books listed in my project, will give my students the opportunity to read books based on the rules of reading being taught, rather than guessing and relying on picture cues.
Additionally, using differentiated instruction will help me support each student's individual learning needs. We know that students, and more specifically students with disabilities, having vary learning styles/ needs. These valuable manuals will help me better help them on their path to learning success.
Lastly, the sensory related items included in my project will provide an appropriate outlet for my students when they are frustrated. My students find similar types of activities helpful in coping with their frustration.
