These materials will help me and my students create a welcoming, safe, engaging, and creative learning environment. My 6th graders have spent the last year-and-a-half doing school completely virtually, and now they are in a big-time transition moving into the biggest middle school in the district while continuing to need to stay safe from COVID-19. The lights and globe balls will decorate our room, the coloring books and art supplies will be used while taking creative breaks and calming down from stressful situations. The laminator will be used to display learning materials as well as student work and projects they are proud of. The highlighters and pencils will support our active reading skills. The Bouncy Bands will provide an active outlet for my students with ADHD, who will not be able to move about the classroom due to efforts to socially distance but who need to remain engaged in their work and not disrupt their peers.
