As a speech pathologist, I use visuals every day to support my students with disabilities. Pictures help them to understand directions, answer questions, access curriculum, and express wants and needs. The problem, however, is that many of these pictures are printed in black and white because there is no access to a color printer. So much information is lost in black and white.
Think about pictures from the 1800's of old towns; we dream of the opportunity to see the color of the town to truly see what it was like! In the same way, my students require color pictures to truly understand what is being asked. Please give my students the ability to connect and relate with others with colorful visuals. A color printer will dramatically change the way my students with disabilities are able to build relationships with others.
