These microscopes will allow the students the same technology that is available at other schools around our area and allow them to have overall better experiences in our science programs. I use microscopes in both Biology and Anatomy and Physiology. We use microscopes for many histology lessons and currently, I have to limit the tissues that they get to view because our microscopes are in such bad shape that it's just not possible. For our future scientists and Drs, this is not acceptable.
My students will be able to stay engaged and feel more confident in themselves and their abilities . I have had students become very frustrated and disheartened because they can't see what they are supposed to on a slide. This leads to them dreading any lab that uses a microscope. I have also had students come back after a year at college and say that they wish they would have had better microscopes in high school.
The students at my high school are hard working, dedicated students, with big dreams and lofty goals. I really want to help more of them fulfill these and give them more confidence moving forward.
