All of our students want to learn how to play, read, and make music in our school! Boomwhackers would be a fun resource for our students to learn about the major scale, use kinesthetic learning, and associate size/color to each scale degree. In class the boomwhackers will provide the opportunity for the kids to play in the classroom comfortably, many at a time. This helps them with the basic idea of steady beat in the songs and it also helps to build the self-esteem that they need. As they progress, they will be able to do team and independent work to build musicianship and to be able to practice socialization. This is especially a great skill as we are now rebuilding social skills in a post pandemic world.
The boomwhacker set and the guitar will play many roles in the program for the students. First and foremost, it will give all students a chance to play music in class without sensory overload. The guitar would allow me to travel classroom to classroom to give more musical opportunities for music making and accompaniment for concerts. Both of these purchases will enhance the environment not only in the classroom, but on the concert stage as well. Please consider donating to our wonderful music program!
