These Arts and crafts project is a small part of our daily classroom employment skills training. In our classroom of adult students with special needs (ages 19-22) we began to teach bead jewelry making and nearly all of the students have made crafts for themselves and family members. I would like to be able to provide them with more bead jewelry making materials so that they can make beads in the classroom and showcase them to High school students on our campus. Not all of my adult students would be able independently work in the marketplace. As the students get daily practice in this art, it is a possibility that some of them might be able to make a livelihood from jewelry-making in the future. Jewelry making might afford such adult students the opportunity to thrive as work-at-home entrepreneurs.
In addition to jewelry-making, Folding towels is one of our taught and practiced Employment skills in class daily.
