The rug will help the students have a more cozy and inviting area to learn. We spend a lot of our day on the carpet. We do whole group reading, calendar, and even play in centers on the rug. The centers work best if on a rug otherwise pieces go under bookshelves and everywhere else. The students also get tired of sitting on the hard floor. They are Kindergarteners and spend a lot of the day moving around and not just sitting at tables with chairs. I miss having a big colorful rug for them to sit on and also use for the alphabet.
